On 22 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, party-list MP of Bhumjaithai and former Industry Minister, commented on Sirikanya Tansakul, party-list MP and deputy leader of the People's Party, who claimed the 'Thai Chuey Thai Plus' project failed in every aspect. Thanakorn said only Sirikanya and People's Party members see it as a failure, despite very positive public feedback and demands to extend the program. He understood Sirikanya’s economic expectations for her party might have caused her to speak hastily and inconsistently—one day accusing the government of relying solely on populist policies, the next day questioning why citizens must top up 40% instead of receiving full subsidies. On support for living costs, Sirikanya acknowledged rising oil prices due to the global crisis. Thanakorn argued that if the government did not help ease living costs, expenses today would be even higher, suggesting a less biased view would reveal this reality.
Regarding Sirikanya’s claim that as an economic stimulus measure, the program failed to boost the economy and only aimed to increase government popularity, Thanakorn said he was unsure where she got that impression—whether from People's Party supporters or elsewhere—to so confidently declare it ineffective. He argued that if the program truly did not stimulate the economy, Sirikanya would not feel compelled to attack it every time an extension is announced. He urged setting aside bias to see the truth plainly.
"Each policy under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s government has clear goals to assist citizens. 'Thai Chuey Thai Plus' helps with living costs; repairing dams and dredging canals aim to prevent floods and droughts for farmers. No single project can solve all citizen problems. If the People's Party ever becomes government, Ms. Sirikanya can try launching a single policy that fixes every issue. Regarding popularity drops, the championship goes to her party, which neglects opposition duties and flees to lead street protests whenever possible. Importantly, they have repeatedly lost the Nonthaburi provincial administrative organization elections," said Thanakorn.
