The Royal Irrigation Department has announced an increase in water discharge from the downstream of the Chao Phraya Dam from 1,300 cubic meters per second to 1,500 cubic meters per second to respond to rainfall and water flow conditions.
On 22 September 2026, the Royal Irrigation Department announced an increase in water discharge downstream of the Chao Phraya Dam to manage water effectively in line with current rainfall and water flow conditions. As of 5:00 a.m. on 22 September 2026, station C.2 in Nakhon Sawan recorded a water flow of 1,601 cubic meters per second, combined with 140 cubic meters per second from the Sakae Krang River at station Ct.19 in Uthai Thani Province, before flowing into the area upstream of the Chao Phraya Dam, resulting in a flow rate of 1,300 cubic meters per second through the dam.
Therefore, the Royal Irrigation Department must increase water discharge downstream of the Chao Phraya Dam from 1,300 cubic meters per second to 1,500 cubic meters per second. This increase will begin gradually from 7:00 a.m. today, rising by about 25 cubic meters per second each hour until reaching 1,500 cubic meters per second around 3:00 p.m., after which the discharge rate will be maintained.
The Royal Irrigation Department is closely monitoring and assessing rainfall, water flow, and water volume upstream of the Chao Phraya Dam, managing water accordingly to balance effective water management with minimizing impacts on downstream areas.
The department urges residents and all sectors in low-lying areas along the Chao Phraya River and downstream of the dam to closely follow water conditions and official announcements, and to prepare for any changes.
