The Election Commission unanimously dismissed complaints against 108 eligible voters in the Bangkok provincial Senate election, SME group, regarding zero votes and mismatched qualifications.
On 22 Sep 2026, the Election Commission Office disclosed the unanimous resolution from the 21 Sep 2026 meeting concerning the investigation of the Bangkok provincial Senate election for Group 9 involving 108 voters. The commission agreed to dismiss the complaints alleging violations or failures to comply with the law, or acts causing the election to be unfair or dishonest, as follows.
(1) Sections 77, 79, and 81 of the 2018 Organic Act on the Election of Senators.
(2) Section 74 in conjunction with Sections 13(3) and 11(9) of the 2018 Organic Act on the Election of Senators.
The first allegation requested an investigation into the Bangkok provincial Senate election held on 16 June 2024 at the designated polling place. It claimed that many individuals disguised themselves as Senate candidates within Group 9 but voted for other provincial groups instead of themselves. This was evidenced by many candidates receiving zero votes. Such conduct could constitute violations of Sections 77, 79, and 81 of the 2018 Organic Act or result in the election not being conducted fairly or honestly.
The second allegation stated that many voters in Group 9 were not medium or small enterprise operators as required by the Election Commission’s qualification criteria but were employees or workers who should have registered in Group 7 (employees or workers) or Group 20 (others). This was claimed to be a violation of Section 74 along with Sections 13(3) and 11(9) of the 2018 Organic Act on the Election of Senators.
