The Prime Minister intends to use the UNGA81 meeting platform to keep Thailand on the global radar, alongside other world leaders, showcasing the country's future as a central trade hub in the ASEAN region while advancing its energy transition.
On 23 September 2026, reporters reported that at 11:20 a.m. local time in New York City—11 hours behind Thailand—Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who also serves as Minister of Interior, spoke to the media after attending the general debate of the 81st United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA.
The Prime Minister stated that during the three days in New York, he will have opportunities to meet with various national leaders as well as representatives from the private sector, business councils, and investors to build greater confidence in Thailand. Although foreign countries already know Thailand, these efforts focus on partnership and demonstrating Thailand's readiness in all respects, including as a distribution hub and manufacturing base prepared to welcome investment.
Regarding his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on 24 September, the Prime Minister will present Thailand's future vision as a trade and economic center in the ASEAN region, emphasizing adaptation to new global rules and energy transition readiness. Thailand is also prepared to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which will enhance its international reputation and promote cooperation with other countries, ensuring Thailand remains competitive and respected globally.
