Prime Minister Meets Leading American Financial Institutions BofA-Microsoft-PIMCO to Invite Partnerships for Investing in Thailand

Thailand is ready for investment as Prime Minister Anutin meets with three leading American financial institutions—BofA, Microsoft, and PIMCO—to invite partnerships to jointly promote future technology and sustainability.

On 22 September 2026 at 13:45 local New York time, which is 11 hours behind Thailand, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul held discussions on the 29th floor of the Bank of America Tower in New York City with senior executives from three leading U.S. financial institutions and funds: Bank of America, Microsoft, and PIMCO. These American investors and investment institutions have agreed to long-term partnerships in Thailand focusing not only on capital investment but also on future technologies and sustainability.

Ekapop Phianpiset, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that during talks with the three private sector entities, the Prime Minister emphasized the government's approach to creating an investment-friendly environment. He welcomed the opportunity to exchange views with executives of leading U.S. financial institutions and funds. He personally believes global financial institutions play a crucial role in linking Thailand with international investors and funding sources, as well as reflecting business sector perspectives beneficial for improving Thailand's investment climate.

The President of International Business at Bank of America praised the Thai government's policies, which align with future global development trends, including promotion of AI, digital technology, and the transition to clean energy. He also announced plans to visit Thailand to attend the upcoming annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Governors, to be held in Thailand next month.

Meanwhile, in discussions with Microsoft executives, both parties exchanged ideas on advancing cooperation in digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, workforce skill development, and cybersecurity to support Thailand's goal of becoming a regional digital economy and AI hub. The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to Microsoft for supporting Thailand's process of joining the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which will elevate standards, regulations, productivity, and competitiveness, helping Thai businesses integrate into global supply chains and compete effectively in the digital economy.

Regarding talks with PIMCO executives, they exchanged views on the global economic and financial situation, capital movement trends, and key factors institutional investors use in making investment decisions.

The Prime Minister noted that information and perspectives from global investors will benefit Thailand in tracking international economic and financial market trends as well as in developing policies and an investment environment that can compete and meet investors' needs in the long term.

"In the Prime Minister's discussions with three leading U.S. financial institutions, a signal was sent about Thailand's readiness to welcome capital and cooperation from international investors, creating opportunities for quality capital to support economic growth, infrastructure development, and potential industries. Thailand does not just want capital inflows but partners to jointly build the economy of the future," said Ekapop.
