23 September 2026 GMT+7 Professor Clinician Dr. Soran Boonbaichaiyapruck, Chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). He called the 25/2569 NBTC meeting today at 09:30 AM in meeting room 1121 on the 12th floor. Originally, the meeting was to be held in the Sailom meeting room at the NBTC office, but it was broadcast via video conference to the NBTC press room to allow media to watch the proceedings.
At today's NBTC meeting, Professor Clinician Dr. Soran arrived at about 09:40 AM. Acting Secretary-General Mr. Trairat Wiriyasirikul informed the meeting that two NBTC commissioners, Police General Dr. Natthathorn Pheasunthorn and Mr. Torpong Selanon, requested to attend online. Associate Professor Dr. Somphop Purivikrayapong was absent with leave. Three commissioners—General Dr. Thanapan Raichaerng, Professor Emeritus Dr. Pirongrong Ramasut, and Associate Professor Dr. Supach Supachalasai—did not attend.
. After waiting the 30-minute grace period as per meeting rule 28 and the commissioners still not reaching quorum, Mr. Trairat proposed that the NBTC chairman postpone the meeting. Professor Clinician Dr. Soran ordered the meeting to be suspended until further notice, causing today's NBTC meeting to fail for the 12th time.
Later, Mr. Trairat said there were a total of 233 agenda items, including key issues such as payments ordered by the Supreme Administrative Court, allocation of short four-digit telephone numbers or special numbers which cannot be extended, and approval for Thailand to participate in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference - PP-26, to be held in Doha, Qatar, in November 2026. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cabinet have expedited this matter.
However, all eyes are on 25 September at 3:00 PM when the Central Administrative Court will hear the verdict on the case concerning the status of NBTC Chairman Professor Clinician Dr. Soran. Dr. Soran filed the case seeking to annul the selection committee's resolution that ruled he lacked the qualifications to hold the NBTC chairman position.
