A representative of the S.T.P. has petitioned the Parliament's National Anti-Corruption Commission Committee to urgently investigate Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization for suspected corruption involving nearly 700 million baht in the 2021-2024 budget period, citing monopolistic behavior by a single contractor over 672 projects, along with possible subcontracting irregularities.
On 23 Sep 2026 GMT+7 at the Parliament, the Committee on the Prevention and Suppression of Corruption of the House of Representatives received a complaint from Mr. Thongdee Phuparat, Secretary-General of the Association for the Promotion of Public Power Inspection (S.T.P.). He requested an investigation into the procurement process of Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization during fiscal years 2021–2024, citing suspected corruption and favoritism involving a vast budget. Mr. Thongdee revealed that in just four years, the PAO allocated construction budgets with suspicious patterns, monopolized by a single contractor who won 672 projects worth nearly 800 million baht. Notably, for projects exceeding 2 million baht, which require electronic bidding, the limited partnership in question won and signed contracts alone for 61 projects totaling over 452 million baht.
Mr. Thongdee added that local residents provided important information noting that the English abbreviation of the limited partnership's name corresponds with the surname of a former Khon Kaen PAO president. Field inspections found the contractor’s registered office was merely a residential house with no heavy construction machinery present. Furthermore, after securing contracts worth hundreds of millions, there are indications the contractor subcontracted work to affiliated companies, including one with familial ties to the former PAO president. In submitting this matter to the Parliament's NACC Committee, the S.T.P. provided a full list of project documents, urging the committee to promptly investigate and summon involved parties to clarify whether procurement complied with government regulations or if there was bid rigging or official misconduct.
