The Supreme Court is preparing to file charges against those who spread false news claiming the head of the election case division met with former politician 'N' to seek assistance in becoming a Constitutional Court judge.
On 23 Sep 2026, the Supreme Court issued a statement addressing rumors on social media that Mr. Worawut Thawathasin, head of the election case division at the Supreme Court, had met with former politician 'N' to ask for support from the Senate members to secure a position as a Constitutional Court judge in exchange for assistance in election cases.
The Supreme Court confirmed with Mr. Worawut, the person named in the reports, that he never met with the former politician 'N'. The statement also clarified that although Mr. Worawut currently serves as head of the election case division, from 1 Oct 2026 he will transfer to another administrative role and will no longer be involved in election case proceedings at the Supreme Court.
Due to the dissemination of this false news, which has damaged the judiciary’s image and harmed official duties, Mr. Worawut has authorized the Judicial Affairs Office of the Courts of Justice to pursue and take full legal action against those responsible for spreading the false information.
