Phumjaithai Party MPs from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya explained that they are continuously monitoring the flood problem, affirming they are not neglecting the situation. They emphasized pushing for both short- and long-term remedies and revealed plans to submit a government question tomorrow.
At 18:10 on 23 September 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Pradit Sangjai, Member of Parliament (MP) for Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, along with other Phumjaithai MPs from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, held a press conference at the parliament regarding interviews about the flood situation in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, stating that all Phumjaithai MPs from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya are not neglecting the problems and are continuously monitoring the situation. They clarified that the affected areas currently are in Zone 5, including Phak Hai and Sena districts, and Zone 1, including Bang Ban district and some parts of the province, not covering the entire province.
Mr. Pradit further revealed that the MPs from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya have raised the citizens’ hardships from last year's major flood to the government, which led to an initial relief payment of 9,000 baht and monthly assistance of 5,000 baht. Since being elected to represent the entire province, they have continuously tracked and promoted projects to prevent and mitigate flood impacts in the area.
The projects under follow-up include the Chao Phraya 2 project, which is nearly complete, and the water gate project between the Chao Phraya and Noi Rivers. If finished on schedule, these will significantly reduce water volume in the area. Additionally, the Chainat-Pasak-Gulf of Thailand project is underway in the 2027 fiscal year and is seen as a key long-term solution for flood problems in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The Phumjaithai Party also plans a disaster fund policy to provide insurance for all households nationwide starting 1 October 2026 as a measure to assist citizens affected by various disasters.
Regarding the current water situation in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, the Royal Irrigation Department has increased water discharge from about 490 to 1,750 cubic meters per second, causing water levels in some areas to rise over 1 meter within 2-3 days, affecting residents. However, not all areas of the province are impacted. On 17 September 2026, monitoring visits found some areas without significant water accumulation.
According to data from the Royal Irrigation Department and related agencies, it was originally predicted that this year's water situation would be less severe than last year. However, rainfall volume and natural conditions are unpredictable factors, resulting in the current flooding in some areas. Moreover, tomorrow (24 September 2026), Mr. Pradit will submit a government question on the flood situation in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. He will bring local issues and hardships to discuss with the Prime Minister and inquire about current solutions and future flood prevention measures. .
