On 23 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Worasit Liangprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, along with Mr. Chainana Dechadecho, List MP from the Democrat Party serving as commissioner and advisor to the Police Committee, and Mr. Pitakdech Dechadecho, Nakhon Si Thammarat MP from the Democrat Party and chairman of the Anti-Money Laundering and Narcotics Committee, led a special operations team from the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior, to surround and arrest suspects at an illegal gambling den in Din Daeng District, Bangkok.
Mr. Worasit explained that the swift raid was prompted by complaints and tips from local residents suffering from a large illegal gambling operation causing loud noise and harming the community. The den was concealed within a mansion or flat building on Prachasongkhro Road in Din Daeng, Bangkok. Investigations revealed that the lower floor of the residence had been modified to secretly operate high-tech dice gambling and horse racing machines without regard for the law. The special operations team immediately planned and executed a raid to block escape routes and control the situation, carrying out the mission without prior coordination with Din Daeng Police Station.
Mr. Worasit added that the raid resulted in the arrest of 53 suspects divided into two groups: eight organizers and dealers (six Thai men and two Cambodian women) and 45 gamblers caught in the act. Authorities seized critical evidence including approximately 350,000 baht in cash, gambling chips worth about 635,000 baht, totaling nearly 1 million baht in circulating cash and chips, along with trays and equipment for high-tech dice, horse racing machines, financial transaction ledgers, and numerous gambling tools. All suspects and evidence were handed over to Din Daeng Metropolitan Police for formal arrest records and charges of "organizing gambling" and "participating in gambling" under legal procedures.
“Upon reviewing the history and evidence at the scene, authorities found that this location had been raided for illegal gambling 2–3 years ago and ceased operation for a long time. Recently, a lease agreement was found covering September to October at a monthly rent of 70,000 baht, indicating the den had just resumed illegal operations. The tenant’s criminal record is under detailed investigation. Officials will also track down and question the building owner or lessor to consider charges of complicity or support, as the site is an open area with public foot traffic where irregularities would be clearly noticeable,” he said. .
Mr. Worasit stated that the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Provincial Administration reaffirm their commitment to thoroughly investigate the networks behind the illegal gambling den, including the true owners and the entire profit distribution structure. They will also continue applying asset seizure measures under the Anti-Money Laundering Act across Din Daeng and nationwide, aligned with government social order policies. He sent a clear warning to those still operating illegal gambling dens to cease immediately, as security forces possess detailed intelligence and are ready to enforce laws decisively to restore long-term peace and safety to society.
