He instructed authorities to check the owners of mysterious phone numbers, foreign bookies, and illegal building extensions. If any state officials are found involved, they will face the highest levels of criminal and disciplinary penalties.
At 09:00 on 24 September 2026, Worasit Liangprasit, Deputy Minister of the Interior, disclosed the joint operation by administrative officers and the Parliamentary Committee on Administration to raid an illegal gambling den operating openly in Din Daeng flats, Bangkok, on 23 September.
According to the facts, during the operation, a mysterious phone call was received. Moreover, the bookmaker was a foreigner, and the gambling was conducted in a building located in the heart of Bangkok, a densely populated community. Worasit reported this to Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who was abroad at the time. The Prime Minister acknowledged the situation and ordered an urgent expansion of investigations to identify and prosecute offenders as quickly as possible.
Worasit said he instructed the administrative officers and the special operations team of the Department of Provincial Administration to coordinate with relevant agencies, including police and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), to urgently verify the owner of the suspicious phone number. They are also expanding inquiries to identify the true owner of the gambling den for prosecution, including examining whether the foreign individual claiming ownership violates the Prime Minister's Regulation on Deportation 2026. Any violations must be prosecuted without exception.
At the same time, in his role overseeing Bangkok, Worasit ordered the Governor of Bangkok to investigate the conduct of officials involved in the Din Daeng district, especially regarding the approval of building extensions. He also instructed a probe into whether any state officials were involved in or aware of the illegal gambling operation. If any officials are found complicit—whether through legal violations or failure to follow regulations—they will face strict disciplinary and criminal actions without leniency.
"I emphasize that we will continue to deepen the investigation into the networks behind this, the true owners of the gambling dens, and the entire profit distribution structure thoroughly. Din Daeng is not the final area under scrutiny. We have information from multiple sources across various locations. We warn those still illegally operating and defying the law to stop immediately. The Ministry of Interior is committed to enforcing the law firmly and decisively to restore lasting peace and order to Thai society."
