'Rakchanok' criticized the Social Security Secretary for banning voters from carrying notes into the Social Security Board election booth on 27 September. She said that if she were the Minister of Labor, she would set up a committee to investigate the Social Security Secretary and Social Security inspectors for abuse of power and distorting the election regulations for the Social Security Board, causing public misunderstanding and failing to facilitate insured persons in exercising their election rights.
Ms. Rakchanok further explained, Section 44 of the Social Security Board election regulations clearly states that "voters are prohibited from bringing any documents or materials related to the election campaign of employer or insured representatives into the polling station." Such documents or materials related to campaign activities can be interpreted as brochures or other printed media belonging to the candidates.
However, paper and pen that voters purchase themselves to write personal notes should be considered their own property. How can this be interpreted as campaign materials related to candidates? Which part of the law supports this interpretation? Moreover, the Social Security Election Commission has clearly resolved that voters may bring personal notes into the booth, yet officials at the Social Security Office still choose to distort the law, causing public misunderstanding.
"If I were the minister, I would never allow these individuals to abuse their power by arbitrarily interpreting the law or distorting its essential meaning. If such actions are permitted once, other abuses will follow," she said.
The reporter added that the Social Security Board election will be held nationwide on Sunday, 27 September 2026, from 08:00 to 16:00.
