Attakorn, spokesperson for the Kla Tham Party, insists there are still no signs of a coalition with the Bhumjaithai Party. He reveals that Thammanat has arrived in Thailand and the party has scheduled a meeting for 29 September.
On 24 September 2026, Mr. Attakorn Sirilattayakorn, MP for Chachoengsao and spokesperson for the Kla Tham Party (KTP), spoke by phone regarding rumors that KTP would join a coalition government with the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) and receive the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives portfolio. He said Capt. Thammanat Prompao, party leader and party-list MP, returned from Japan to Thailand on 23 September and on 24 September went to parliament. They discussed supporting Thai athletes as president of the Water Sports Association of Thailand while in Japan, and also talked about MP Parit Watcharasindhu of the People's Party (PPP), who is deputy leader and chair of the opposition whip committee, proposing to remove KTP from the opposition whip.
When asked whether Capt. Thammanat spoke about joining the government, Attakorn said he did not. He confirmed there have been no talks about joining a coalition. He only discussed with Capt. Thammanat the news that KTP was removed from the opposition whip due to restructuring of the opposition whip.
When asked if there would be a party MP meeting to clarify the situation, Attakorn said the party has scheduled a regular weekly meeting on 29 September, but it is not yet known if the party’s status will be addressed.
When asked if there had been talks with senior members of the Bhumjaithai Party, Attakorn said if any talks occur, they would be handled solely by Capt. Thammanat, but so far there are no signals.
When pressed on whether there is a likelihood of joining the government after the no-confidence debate, Attakorn said he does not know. He also said he is unaware of any coalition process because Capt. Thammanat is the one who negotiates with the Prime Minister.
