The government has ordered vigilance for heavy rainfall in the central region and surrounding metropolitan areas, mobilizing personnel and equipment to be ready to assist citizens 24 hours a day.
On 25 September 2026, Ms. Lalida Perdivattana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government is closely monitoring water conditions in the central region. Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Songsak Thongsri has instructed all agencies to prepare for heavy rains from 24 to 27 September 2026. Additionally, the Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) and the Royal Irrigation Department are managing water releases downstream of the Chao Phraya Dam, with a flow rate of 1,750 cubic meters per second, diverting water into irrigation channels on both sides, and installing pumps to handle floodwaters in Nakhon Pathom, Chachoengsao, Suphanburi, and Samut Sakhon provinces.
Ms. Lalida added that the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has established a 24-hour War Room and deployed machinery to high-risk areas, especially in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Efforts include reinforcing water barriers to protect important historic sites such as Wat Kasattrathiraj and Wat Chaiwatthanaram, as well as visiting Phak Hai District to support vulnerable groups by distributing survival kits and preparing shelters with personnel ready to assist in relocating belongings to higher ground. The government emphasized that all agencies must adjust water management plans based on real-time conditions, prioritizing public safety. Residents in low-lying areas outside water barriers are urged to closely follow official warnings and remain calm.
