The Prime Minister has issued transcontinental orders to monitor heavy rainfall situations and directed all ministries to prepare emergency response plans and arrange for the evacuation of residents.
On 25 September 2026, Ms. Traisulee Traisoranakul, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, revealed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has been closely monitoring heavy rain and water levels in many parts of the country, especially in Bangkok, its surrounding metropolitan area, and several central provinces. He has directly instructed relevant agencies to prepare fully for the situation and to take care of the public.
Ms. Traisulee stated that although the Prime Minister is currently on a foreign mission—having just attended the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) and engaged in economic and investment activities in New York, USA, and now traveling to London, UK—he remains deeply concerned about domestic flooding. Therefore, he has continuously issued instructions and coordinated with responsible agencies without interruption.
The Prime Minister has directed all agencies to plan responses comprehensively from upstream to downstream, including preparing emergency plans, evacuation procedures for residents in risk areas, readiness of machinery, equipment, water pumps, and personnel to act immediately in case of flash floods. He emphasized close coordination with local government offices and provincial governors in vulnerable areas to prevent any lapses.
The Secretary-General added that the Prime Minister stressed the need for all ministries to integrate their work comprehensively, covering weather forecasting, water drainage, transportation systems, public health care, and land management. This approach aims to ensure continuous and highly effective assistance to the public without any operational gaps, even while the Prime Minister is abroad.
Regarding the mission in London, UK, this marks the final leg of the current foreign visit. The Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with financial sectors, investors, and leading business groups to expand trade and investment opportunities for Thailand before officially returning home on 27 September 2026 to personally oversee flood management efforts.
