The Prachachon Party is monitoring heavy rain battering Bangkok until 28 Sep. Natthapong urges Bangkok authorities to address four urgent issues "within tonight," ordering MPs and district councilors to widely establish shelters and coordinate assistance for residents.

On 26 Sep 2026, Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the Prachachon Party, spoke about the heavy rains and flooding in many parts of Bangkok. The Meteorological Department forecasts continuous rain until 28 Sep. He said that given the current situation and limitations, we must accept that immediate drainage or flood clearance is impossible.
Therefore, the most important task now is Bangkok's crisis management to minimize impact on residents and reduce loss of property and life as much as possible. The Prachachon Party proposes four urgent matters that Bangkok must address "within tonight," namely:
1. Mobilize water pumps from central agencies. Bangkok must promptly coordinate to receive support of water pumps from central agencies including the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), Royal Irrigation Department, and Department of Water Resources to reinforce Bangkok’s capacity. This is to help drain water when the tide ebbs, which is the "golden moment" to pump out as much water as possible to accommodate new rainfall. Pumps can be installed immediately according to the existing flow direction map held by Bangkok.
2. Strictly declare Work From Home (WFH) measures to manage crisis areas efficiently, reduce street congestion during rush hours, and lower the risk of damage to citizens’ vehicles from deep flooding.
3. Clearly announce "no-go zones." Bangkok must publicize and warn about critically flooded areas and immediately declare them as prohibited routes for vehicles to prevent damage to property and ensure public safety.
4. Urge the DDPM director-general to declare Bangkok a "disaster area" to enable the governor to mobilize personnel, equipment, and resources from agencies such as district offices, police, military, and public health to assist residents more systematically. This will also allow emergency government funds to be promptly allocated for disaster management in Bangkok.
Mr. Natthapong also spoke about the Prachachon Party’s work on the ground. Currently, MPs and district councilors from the party in all districts are actively addressing initial hardships by coordinating efforts in five main areas:
1. Coordinating with district directors to prepare temporary shelters and liaise with private sectors such as malls and markets to open areas for relocating vehicles from flood zones and provide free parking.
2. Coordinating with district offices to request support for medicines and medical supplies for distribution to residents in flooded areas.
3. Organizing procurement of survival kits, food, drinking water, and sandbags to assist vulnerable groups and households inundated by floodwater.
4. Requesting Food Bank support from district offices to distribute food to those in urgent need during the emergency.
5. Collecting water management tools and information in Bangkok to make data accessible for residents to easily track the situation.
"The Prachachon Party sends its concern to all Bangkok residents at this time. Please stay safe. If water begins entering your home, immediately switch off the breaker. Avoid touching electric poles or boxes submerged in water. If you see downed power lines or flooded electrical boxes, report to authorities immediately. Also, for those driving in flood areas, please reduce speed and drive slowly to prevent flood waves from hitting neighbors’ houses," Mr. Natthapong said.
