On 26 September 2026, First Lieutenant Phatdarasmit Thongsaluaykrorn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, clarified the facts regarding bringing "election notes" into the Social Security Board polling stations, aiming to ensure insured persons understand the rules uniformly and can confidently exercise their rights in the election on 27 September 2026.
Writing down candidates' numbers for personal memory is permitted and not against regulations. The Social Security Election Commission meeting on 9 September 2026 approved that there is no prohibition against privately noting candidates’ numbers. Therefore, if worried about forgetting the numbers, voters may write them on their palm or a small piece of paper for memory aid, but must not show these numbers to others.
What is prohibited is bringing any documents or materials related to candidates’ campaigning into the polling premises, according to Regulation No. 44. Insured persons are urged to clearly distinguish between “personal notes for memory aid” and “campaign documents,” as these are entirely different cases.
“The key point is that writing down numbers to help memory is allowed, but campaign documents are forbidden inside polling stations. We urge insured persons to separate these two matters clearly so they can fully and confidently exercise their voting rights,” said the Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister.
For insured persons who do not wish to write down numbers, they can check the candidate numbers from the list posted at the polling station entrance before entering the voting booth. The Social Security Board election will be held on 27 September 2026 from 08:00 to 16:00.
