Chulanant, Minister of Labour, urgently instructed the Social Security Office to assess the flood situation, consider relocating polling stations, and postpone the Social Security Board election to avoid obstructing insured persons' rights to vote.
On 26 September 2026 GMT+7, Chulanant Amornwiwat, Minister of Labour, posted on Facebook expressing his deep concern for the safety of insured persons and staff amid flooding in several areas, some declared emergency disaster zones.
Regarding the upcoming Social Security Board election, he ordered the Social Security Office and its Election Committee to closely monitor and thoroughly assess the situation, focusing on the safety of voters traveling, readiness and security of polling staff, accessibility of polling locations, and comprehensive weather and forecast evaluations.
Initially, the Social Security Election Committee is categorizing impact levels by area (severe, moderate, slight) to devise the most robust response, including relocating polling stations to safer, more accessible sites or postponing elections—potentially only for certain stations or provinces severely affected—based on situational appropriateness. To ensure no barriers to citizens’ voting rights, the Ministry of Labour has tasked the Department of Skill Development and its nationwide institutes, including the Skill Development Institute 13 in Bangkok, to rapidly establish vehicle and travel assistance points in high-risk zones, with management teams providing full on-site support.
Additionally, to alleviate hardships from the flooding, the Department of Skill Development is preparing expert technicians to open service centers for inspecting and repairing vehicles, including conventional cars and electric vehicles (EVs) affected by floods, aiming to reduce expenses and swiftly restore living conditions for the affected population.
He urged all insured persons to be confident that the Ministry of Labour prioritizes public and staff safety. The Social Security Office will promptly and transparently announce the official assessment results and election management plans.
