On 26 September 2026, Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan posted on Facebook urging the government to waive the 6-baht-per-liter excise tax on diesel fuel, which would reduce the price to 30-31 baht immediately. She emphasized that exempting the diesel excise tax does not just help a specific group because diesel is a core cost of agricultural and industrial production as well as transportation. When fuel prices soar, consumer goods prices rise accordingly, causing hardship for people whose incomes cannot cover expenses, leading to the situation where “Thai people just can’t take it anymore.”
Most importantly, the ongoing war between the United States and Iran seems to be intensifying and prolonging, with the Strait of Hormuz closed and attacks near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, raising the risk of oil shortages. She hopes the government has prepared for this situation to avoid the fuel shortages experienced in earlier conflicts and prays there will be no more masked individuals hoarding fuel and causing public suffering.
She also demands the government honor its promise by asking, “When will the fuel price restructuring happen?” The government had announced plans to restructure energy prices, especially fuel prices, since taking office nearly six months ago but no progress has been seen yet.
