The Prime Minister expressed concern about flooding and ordered all agencies to mobilize their available resources to assist the public with full capacity. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DPM) is joining forces with the Ministry of Defense to expedite aid in Bangkok. "Je Seth" urged the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, Provincial Waterworks Authority, and the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning to fully support DPM’s mission.
On 26 Sep 2026 GMT+7, the Frontline Command Center (FLC 1) reported the results of a coordination meeting between the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DPM) and the Ministry of Defense. The meeting focused on measures to tackle heavy rainfall and flooding in Bangkok through systematic collaboration, including creating support plans, establishing communication channels, and mobilizing personnel and resources to deliver timely and targeted assistance to the public.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed close concern over the situation and monitored the response efforts closely. While on duty in the UK, he held a video conference to order all agencies to integrate their work and mobilize all available resources to assist the public fully, emphasizing the safety of citizens and rapid access to affected areas.
Deputy Minister of Interior Je Seth Thaiset ordered agencies under his supervision—including the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, Provincial Waterworks Authority, and the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning—to urgently support DPM’s mission with full manpower, equipment, and necessary resources. He stressed close coordination among all agencies to ensure aid reaches affected communities swiftly and minimizes the impact on residents.
The meeting agreed to establish a system for coordinating manpower and to create support plans within affected areas. Contact numbers for coordination in each area were assigned to enable prompt incident reporting, deployment of forces, and resource support. Personnel from the First Army Area have joined to support operations in Bangkok.
Meanwhile, DPM has relocated disaster relief machinery and personnel from its centers in Suphanburi (Zone 2) and Chainat (Zone 16) to reinforce efforts in Bangkok. This support focuses on water drainage, moving supplies, assisting residents, and accessing areas affected by flooding or with limited mobility.
This operation follows the principle of “Unified information, mutual reinforcements, immediate coordination.” DPM will coordinate closely with the First Army Area, Bangkok authorities, and related agencies to continuously adjust personnel, machinery, and resources to support areas as needed based on the evolving situation.
DPM confirmed its full readiness to support Bangkok with personnel, disaster relief machinery, and coordination with related agencies to accelerate assistance to affected residents and minimize the impacts of heavy rainfall as much as possible.
