On 26 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party (DP), along with party spokesperson Pongsakorn Kwanmuang and the party team, visited Khlong Toei District to encourage and assist residents affected by flooding. They set up a kitchen to prepare meals for those impacted in the area. Abhisit expressed the party's concern for all citizens currently facing hardship and urged everyone to closely monitor weather warnings and information, advising caution as meteorological forecasts indicate that rain and unstable weather conditions will likely continue for some time. The Democrat Party has mobilized all resources to help citizens. In Bangkok, they have coordinated with Bangkok Metropolitan Council members and party candidates in each area to quickly assess residents’ needs and provide timely assistance, fully supporting these efforts.
Regarding the situation in other provinces, responsibilities have been assigned to party leaders for close supervision. In the Central region, Mekhin Iamsaard, deputy party leader, is responsible for oversight and coordination. In the Eastern region, deputy party leader Satit Pitutecha is monitoring the situation and preparing continuous assistance for residents in those areas, Abhisit said.
Democrat Party deputy spokesperson Siripa Intawichian revealed that party leader Abhisit also launched a coordination center to provide aid to those affected via the Blue House channel at the Democrat Party headquarters. They are preparing to establish a central kitchen to prepare meals for distribution in various impacted communities.
Siripa said the Democrat Party wishes to be a key force in helping citizens across different areas and extends encouragement to all sectors working tirelessly to assist those in need. However, she noted that government management and communication issues remain critical areas requiring improvement to better prepare for crisis situations. Although the flooding is caused by rainfall, the resulting damage is comparable to river flooding. Simply waiting for the rain to stop is not a solution. The government should integrate all sectors to support work with Bangkok authorities to address various problems, especially public transportation. Currently, citizens are suffering greatly, and it is within the government's authority to resolve these issues.
