The government has urged vigilance for heavy rain in the central and western regions. Naphinthara has ordered daily monitoring of water conditions in the Mae Klong, Phetchaburi, and Prachuap watersheds, with immediate coordination to assist the public should any disasters occur.
On 27 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that the government is closely monitoring rainfall and water situations in the central and western regions. Mr. Naphinthara Srisanpong, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, authorized to oversee and supervise regional administration on behalf of the Prime Minister for inspection zones 3 and 4, and also serving as chairman of the subcommittee on flood and drought prevention and mitigation for the Mae Klong and Phetchaburi-Prachuap watersheds, has directed relevant agencies to closely monitor the situation and continuously report data to enable timely coordination of assistance if situations arise in the area.
Ms. Lalida explained that this directive follows heavy rainfall expected from 23–30 September 2026 GMT+7, impacting many provinces in the central, western, eastern regions and Bangkok, especially from 26–30 September 2026 GMT+7 when rain clusters are forecast to move westward, causing heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. Continuous monitoring and preparedness are therefore necessary.
Mr. Naphinthara has assigned the National Water Resources Office to track and report overall water conditions as well as specific situations in the Mae Klong and Phetchaburi-Prachuap watersheds daily, to support situation assessment and command decisions in the regions.
Simultaneously, provinces under the supervision of regional administration—inspection zone 3 including Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Suphanburi, and zone 4 including Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, and Prachuap Khiri Khan, plus provinces in the Mae Klong and Phetchaburi-Prachuap watersheds—have been instructed to report daily local situations continuously.
In case of any disasters, provinces are to report immediately to enable Mr. Naphinthara to direct and coordinate relevant agencies to quickly assist the public, minimizing impacts on lives, property, and livelihoods as much as possible.
“The government insists that all areas closely monitor the situation, especially during continued heavy rainfall. Rapid and continuous reporting will help assess the situation and coordinate assistance immediately if incidents occur. Provinces and related agencies are urged to prepare fully and prioritize public safety above all,” he said. Ms. Lalida added.
