Lieutenant General Adul revealed that the Defense Ministry and the three branches of the armed forces have combined efforts to tackle flooding in Bangkok without political division, emphasizing that although Bangkok has no Bhumjaithai Party MPs, party members and related personnel remain focused on helping the people.
27 Sep 2026 GMT+7 Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defense, disclosed details on flood relief efforts in Bangkok and its metropolitan area, stating that the Ministry of Defense and all three military branches have mobilized personnel, machinery, water pumps, trucks, and rubber boats to assist residents across all areas of Bangkok without distinguishing any agency or district, adhering to the principle that the people come first, while coordinating closely with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and government agencies.
The Minister of Defense further stated, that although there are no Bhumjaithai Party Members of Parliament in Bangkok, party members and related individuals continue to assist those affected by the floods, coordinating military personnel to help in hard-to-reach areas such as dead-end alleys and isolated communities to alleviate suffering as much as possible. This assistance is without political or territorial distinction, with all parties sharing the same goal of ensuring people's safety and a swift return to normal life.
Lieutenant General Adul added that the main cause of the flooding was widespread, continuous heavy rain producing water volumes exceeding the area's drainage capacity. Despite some military units being affected by the floods, the armed forces continue to deploy personnel and equipment to aid the public continuously. They have also established shelters for flood victims and are accelerating the relocation of bedridden patients, the elderly, vulnerable groups, and those needing care to hospitals and healthcare facilities for their safety.
"The Ministry of Defense and all military units are deploying troops to assist the people. Even though military areas are flooded, we prioritize the people first," he said.
In closing, Lieutenant General Adul said that after Bangkok declared a disaster area, the Defense Ministry and military are fully supporting manpower and resources from all units without distinction of special administrative zones or agency jurisdictions.
