The Deputy Government Spokesperson revealed that the Social Security Office (SSO) assists Section 33 insured workers affected by flooding who cannot travel to work or whose employers must temporarily close operations without pay. These workers are entitled to claim income compensation at 50% of their daily wages, for up to 90 days per claim.
On 27 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Second Lieutenant Phatdarasmit Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, stated that the Social Security Office (SSO) reaffirmed the rights of Section 33 insured workers impacted by natural disasters, especially flooding, who are unable to commute to work. If employers are affected and must temporarily suspend business, causing workers to lose wages, these insured workers can claim unemployment benefits due to force majeure under specified conditions. The SSO provides compensation at 50% of daily wages, for up to 90 days per claim.
Affected insured workers should prepare the following documents:
1. Unemployment Benefit Claim Form (SSO 2-01/7)
2. Unemployment certification letter from the employer
3. If the insured worker has not linked their PromptPay to their national ID number, a copy of the first page of their savings bank account passbook should be attached.
Employers must issue an unemployment benefit certification due to force majeure and submit the claim via the e-service system to request unemployment benefits for their insured workers, or file the claim at the Social Security Office in Bangkok, provincial offices, or branches.
“We urge insured workers affected by natural disasters to verify their rights and prepare complete documents to avoid missing out on the assistance they are entitled to under social security,” said the Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office.
