The Cabinet resolved that 28-29 September 2026 will be special public holidays exclusively for Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan due to heavy rain and flooding. State enterprises, private sectors, banks, and hospitals will consider closures based on appropriateness and necessity instead.
At 16:40 on 27 September 2026, Ms. Lalida Perdwittaya, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced following a special Cabinet meeting that The Cabinet decided to designate Monday, 28 September, and Tuesday, 29 September 2026, as special public holidays limited to the areas of Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan provinces. This decision was made due to heavy rainfall and flooding in many areas, which has affected public travel. Government agencies will continue to provide services to the public through online channels as usual.
The Deputy Government Spokesperson added that the special holidays aim to reduce travel in affected areas due to heavy rain and flooding, but public services, especially those operable online, must continue without interruption.
For agencies with essential public service duties or important official tasks scheduled during the holidays, and if canceling or postponing would cause damage to the government or affect public services, the heads of those agencies should decide appropriately to avoid harm to government operations or public service delivery.
Regarding state enterprises, financial institutions, and the private sector, each organization should assess the necessity and appropriateness of declaring these days as holidays, aligning with relevant laws. This includes state enterprises, the Bank of Thailand, the Ministry of Labour, insurance companies, hospitals, and healthcare facilities. Meanwhile, the Stock Exchange will remain open as usual.
Ms. Lalida further stated that government agencies responsible for procurement, finance, and budgeting, which must complete tasks by 30 September 2026, have access to e-GP and GFMIS systems remotely. Therefore, agency heads are urged to oversee timely completion to prevent budget lapses.
