27 Sep 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, personally led Democrat Party leaders to Khlong Chan Flats, Khlong Chan Subdistrict, Bangkapi District, Bangkok, to visit and encourage residents, deliver survival kits to ease their distress, and reaffirm the party’s commitment to stand with the people through all difficult situations.
The visit also included Ms. Kandej Liaopairoj, Mr. Korn Chatikavanij, Mr. Chaiyanat Dechdecho, Deputy Party Leader, Mr. Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, Party Spokesperson, and a team of former Bangkok MP candidates, who jointly inspected living conditions and personally delivered survival kits and essential items from Mom Rajawongse Seni Pramoj to the residents to provide initial relief and boost morale to overcome this period with strength.
Mr. Abhisit said at one point, “Right now, we Democrats are at Ramkhamhaeng using high-clearance vehicles to travel to Khlong Chan to deliver survival kits we collected and prepared this morning to the residents. “I would like government agencies to send in high-clearance vehicles to assist people with their travel, similar to how we are entering Khlong Chan now; we are also picking up people who need to travel inside. We are still en route; once we arrive, I will report again if there are additional needs.”
Mr. Chaiyanat called on Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt to urgently resolve flooding and assist affected residents after visiting Ramkhamhaeng Road through Bangkapi and Khlong Chan Flats, finding that many communities are suffering from standing floodwaters.
He stated that Bangkok must prioritize rapid drainage of floodwaters in all affected areas and provide sandbags for residents to protect against flooding and reduce damage from water entering homes, especially in flats and housing communities where many people live. Furthermore, Bangkok must promptly deploy staff to assist residents closely, including moving belongings and evacuating those affected, as well as establishing community kitchens to prepare food for those distressed, ensuring access to comprehensive and timely aid.
At the same time, Mr. Chaiyanat also called on the government to integrate relevant agencies to fully support flood relief efforts and aid people in affected areas, particularly through budgetary support and necessary equipment to alleviate residents’ hardships as quickly as possible.
