The Cabinet held a special meeting to monitor the flood situation. The Prime Minister ordered all agencies to integrate efforts and expedite continuous assistance to the public. Emphasis was placed on communicating water and weather information clearly and promptly. A press center was set up and work-from-home measures considered to reduce travel impact.
On 27 Sep 2026 at 16:00, at the Government Press Center, Naree Samosorn Building, Government House, Mr. Ekapop Piansaphet, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced the Cabinet meeting results and the establishment of a joint flood information center. He said this is another difficult time for Thai people, especially in Bangkok and its metropolitan area. Bangkok has declared all 50 districts as flood zones to ensure aid reaches residents as quickly as possible, along with the 25 provinces nationwide facing flooding in many areas.
Today, a special Cabinet meeting was held to review the flood situation and aid efforts, with the Prime Minister issuing the following directives:
1. All agencies must integrate efforts to solve problems and handle the situation, ensuring assistance is orderly and continuous across all areas.
2. Systematically collect climate, water, and disaster data and promptly inform the public as follows:
- The National Water Resources Office (NWRO) and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, with the Royal Irrigation Department as the main agency, will monitor water conditions and drainage.
- The Ministry of Interior, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) are the main agencies for warning and supporting evacuations.
- The Meteorological Department is the key agency providing climate information with easily understandable messages.
- NWRO and related agencies will integrate weather forecasts and water situation data, coordinating operations with the Ministry of Interior and affected provinces.
3. Deputy Prime Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas was assigned to notify all government offices to facilitate and provide free parking space for the public’s vehicles.
4. The Ministry of Defence was tasked to support military trucks for public evacuation and transport of goods. All armed forces branches will mobilize resources to support operations of all agencies as coordinated.
5. The Ministry of Finance (Comptroller General’s Department) will consider expanding relief funding for the BMA and related agencies as needed, in accordance with laws and regulations.
6. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) will issue warnings and regularly update the public on the latest situation.
7. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (Royal Irrigation Department), Ministry of Interior (DDPM), BMA, and related agencies will survey the readiness of equipment, machinery, and water pumps to operate at full capacity and coordinate with BMA for consistent pumping and drainage.
8. Governors in the eastern region provinces will closely monitor the situation and provide timely assistance to residents.
9. Monitor flash floods, landslides, and forest runoff in various provinces, and manage dam water releases with consideration for appropriateness and the safety of residents downstream.
10. Police and related agencies will move vehicles obstructing roads and plan traffic management appropriately to minimize impacts on public travel and ensure safety of residents and residences.
11. The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) and Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) will inspect and ensure water quality meets standards for households. The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) will prepare staff to access areas for power cuts, repairs, and have generators ready.
12. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, BMA, and related agencies will coordinate to assist vulnerable groups, bedridden patients, prepare shelters, and supply food, clothing, medicine, and survival kits, as well as ready medical facilities to care for patients.
13. Public relations will be conducted to provide accurate and unified information. Agencies will report water conditions, climate, and related data to the government spokesperson via the Prime Minister’s Secretariat and collaborate with the Public Relations Department and MCOT to establish a press briefing center.
14. State agencies (via the Office of the Civil Service Commission) will consider work-from-home (WFH) measures and seek cooperation from the private sector to reduce traffic and travel disruptions.
