The government has extended free tolls on eight expressways—including motorways M6, M7, M9, and Don Mueang Tollway—until midnight on 29 September to provide more travel options and lessen travel burdens during flooding. In addition, deadlines for vehicle tax, driving license, and transport permit renewals have been extended until 30 October 2026.
On 27 September 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertviwatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government, through the Ministry of Transport, has extended toll fee exemptions to alleviate hardship and facilitate travel for citizens affected by heavy rain and flooding in many areas. This covers eight expressways, motorways number 6 (M6), 7 (M7), and 9 (M9), as well as the Don Mueang Tollway.
Ms. Lalida said Mr. Siriphong Angkasulgkiat, Deputy Minister of Transport, has been monitoring and expediting transportation measures to assist people during the flooding situation, aiming to increase travel options, distribute traffic volume, and reduce impacts from flood-affected routes.
The Expressway Authority of Thailand has extended the toll-free period from the original deadline of 24:00 on 27 September 2026 to 24:00 on 29 September 2026. This applies to eight expressways: Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway, Si Rat Expressway, Chalong Rat Expressway, Burapha Withi Expressway, Udon Ratthaya Expressway, Bang Na–At Narong Expressway (S1), Kanchanaphisek Expressway (Bang Phli–Suksawat section), and Prachim Ratthaya Expressway (Si Rat–Outer Ring Road section).
Meanwhile, the Department of Highways has extended free access on Motorway 6 (M6) between Bang Pa-in and Pak Chong without tolls until midnight on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, to provide alternative routes and avoid flood-affected areas. This route is open only to four-wheeled vehicles with a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour.
For travel from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima, vehicles can enter and exit along the entire route except at Wang Noi and Saraburi toll gates, which remain closed. Traveling from Nakhon Ratchasima to Bangkok, vehicles can enter at Kham Thalesor or Sikhio toll gates and exit at Pak Chong toll gate, then use local roads to connect to Mittraphap Road before re-entering M6 at Muak Lek toll gate to head toward Bangkok due to road closures near the homeless animal shelter in Pak Chong subdistrict.
Additionally, the Department of Highways has extended toll exemptions on Motorway 7 (M7) and Motorway 9 (M9) until 24:00 on 29 September 2026, along with Don Mueang Tollway's extended toll-free period until midnight of the same day. These measures aim to increase travel options and help distribute traffic away from flood-affected routes.
Extension of Vehicle Tax, Driving License, and Transport Permit Renewals Until 30 October 2026
,Ms. Lalida also revealed that the Department of Land Transport has announced an extension for vehicle registration and tax services, driving license or professional driver permit renewals, and other procedures for provinces declared flood disaster zones by provincial governors. This helps citizens unable to visit offices within the original deadlines.
Regarding the extension,these procedures can be completed until 30 October 2026 at Bangkok Land Transport Offices 1–5, provincial Land Transport Offices, and branch offices in provinces declared flood disaster zones by provincial governors.
For annual vehicle tax payments due between 28 September and 30 October 2026, owners who pay within this extended period will be considered to have paid on time without incurring additional fees.
Other vehicle registration and tax-related procedures subject to legal deadlines—such as vehicle deregistration, ownership transfer, vehicle relocation notification, color change, fuel type change, vehicle inspection for passenger vehicles with up to 7 seats, inspection required by transport operation permits, and essential vehicle data corrections—if completed within the extended period, will be accepted as timely and without penalty fees.
“This measure aims to prevent citizens in flood-affected areas from losing rights or facing penalties due to being unable to conduct official business within the normal deadlines. By extending the relevant deadlines until 30 October 2026, it helps reduce burdens and facilitates convenience for people still impacted by flooding,” Ms. Lalida said.
