28 Sep 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Julapan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labor, commented on the flood situation in Sa Kaeo and Chanthaburi provinces, stating that according to the latest reports, there have been a total of 8 deaths: 5 in Sa Kaeo province and 3 in Chanthaburi province. He has therefore instructed the Social Security Office (SSO) to urgently verify the insured status and benefits eligibility of each deceased individual, coordinating with families and heirs to provide swift assistance according to their rights.
Preliminary checks in Sa Kaeo found 5 deceased individuals; among them, one was insured under Section 40, Option 3, entitled to a funeral allowance of 50,000 baht and old-age savings of 9,694.50 baht. Another had previously been insured under Section 33 with old-age savings of 725.46 baht. The remaining deceased were not found to have insured status, with one case still under investigation to confirm identity.
In Chanthaburi, reports show 3 deaths related to the flooding and associated events. Among them, 2 were not insured, while one had previously been insured and contributed to the fund before December 1998. Initial checks indicate this individual does not meet the conditions for social security compensation benefits.
Minister Julapan added that he has instructed the Social Security Office in affected areas to closely monitor the situation, conduct field visits, and coordinate with relevant agencies to continuously verify information on the deceased and insured persons impacted. Particularly for those eligible for compensation benefits, officials should expedite communication with heirs and facilitate the process to ensure full and prompt receipt of rights.
