The Army Commander has ordered the rapid reinforcement of personnel and equipment in crisis zones, integrating volunteers from all sectors to continuously assist flood victims in Bangkok, while emphasizing maximum safety.
On 28 Sep 2026 GMT+7 at the Army Headquarters, Army spokesman Major General Winthai Suwaree revealed that following continuous monitoring of the flood situation by the Army Disaster Relief Center, this morning General Pana Klaewplodtuk, the Army Commander, instructed units under the Army Disaster Relief Center to maintain ongoing flood monitoring, especially in Bangkok. Although water levels in some areas have begun to recede, many locations still experience flooding, causing difficulties for residents including evacuation challenges, shortages of essential supplies, and special care needs for vulnerable groups and bedridden patients. To ensure continuous assistance, all units are to maintain personnel and equipment readiness and integrate volunteer forces through the Army's Royal Volunteer Coordination Center to fully support all government agencies. They are also to consider redeploying troops from less affected areas to reinforce those still in crisis.
This includes deploying large trucks to evacuate residents to safe areas and transporting essential goods into flooded zones. The establishment of food distribution points using royal field kitchen trucks and army field kitchens to prepare cooked meals, which volunteers then distribute to affected communities. Assistance is also extended to vulnerable populations and emergency patients to ensure timely access to medical care.
Additionally, the Emergency Medical Operations Center at Phramongkutklao Hospital is mobilized to assist critical patients safely. Military units have opened their facilities as shelters, emergency parking for disaster victims, and shortcut routes to ease public access. Troops support government agencies by preparing essential supplies, sandbagging, and setting up water barriers to anticipate future situations. Furthermore, the Army Engineering Department, equipped with heavy machinery, stands ready to provide technical support upon request.
The Army Commander also emphasized that all personnel assisting the public must prioritize operational safety by wearing life jackets and personal protective equipment (PPE) before entering risky areas, exercising caution in locations with potential electrical leakage. He expressed encouragement to all personnel, volunteers, and affected residents to unite and overcome this crisis together.
