The NBTC Selection Committee has resolved to file a petition with the Administrative Court seeking a temporary injunction to immediately suspend Dr. Sorn from his duties as NBTC Chairman, citing concerns that he may obstruct the work of other NBTC board members.
On 28 Sep 2026 GMT+7, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) Selection Committee released meeting report No. 5/2569 stating the following.
On 28 Sep 2026 GMT+7, the NBTC Selection Committee received a letter from an NBTC board member requesting the committee to file a petition with the Central Administrative Court to establish temporary measures while the case is pending. This follows the court's ruling on 25 Sep 2026 GMT+7 dismissing case No. 1455/2569 (black number) and No. 1950/2569 (red number), in which Professor Clinic Dr. Sorn Boonbaichaiyapruck sued to annul the Selection Committee's decision that he lacks the qualifications or has disqualifying traits under Section 8(2), and is deemed to have forfeited his right to the position under Section 18 of the Frequency Allocation and Broadcasting and Telecommunications Business Organization Act 2010 and its amendments.
However, Dr. Sorn has continued to express his intention to perform duties at the NBTC office and meetings, which could obstruct other NBTC board members. Therefore, the Selection Committee, as a party in the case, requests the court to order temporary protective measures until the case is finally decided, allowing the remaining NBTC board members to continue safeguarding national interests.
The Selection Committee believes that to prevent disruption of the NBTC board's functions, which would affect the public interest, it is appropriate to petition for Dr. Sorn to suspend his duties as NBTC Chairman, in line with the Selection Committee's ruling No. 1/2569, the Supreme Administrative Court's order No. 954/2569, and the Central Administrative Court's judgments in case Nos. 1455/2569 and 1950/2569.
Therefore, the NBTC Selection Committee resolved to impose administrative enforcement measures requiring Dr. Sorn to suspend his duties and to file a petition with the Central Administrative Court seeking an order for Dr. Sorn to cease performing his role as NBTC Chairman.
