Abhisit and Chuan led the Democrat Party team in distributing survival bags to Romklao Housing residents, urging the government to resolve coordination system problems and stressing that residents have faced the flood crisis alone for over 70 hours.
At 14:30 on 28 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, along with former party leader Chuan Leekpai, led party members and staff to Romklao Housing, which has been flooded for several days, to deliver survival bags, dry food, and drinking water to flood victims after receiving reports that many residents still faced difficulties accessing aid.
Abhisit said during the visit that the Democrat Party had prepared survival bags and essential supplies since the morning to distribute to flood victims at Romklao Housing. The current situation shows many residents in several areas have yet to receive government assistance for over 48 to 70 hours. Although volunteers and various agencies have attempted to provide help, the water level shows no sign of receding. Therefore, it is believed that continuous aid efforts will be needed over the next 2-3 days.
When asked about suggestions for the government’s work, Abhisit said the urgent issue to improve is coordination. He cited an example from his visit to Khlong Chan flats on 27 Sep before the Prime Minister’s visit, where only private sector units and volunteer boats were stationed and delivering food aid. He hopes that after the Prime Minister’s visit, a better system will be established. While some residents have started deciding to evacuate, leaving is not easy. Amid these difficult circumstances, the most important thing now is to urgently mobilize aid to relieve immediate suffering as quickly as possible. Issues related to management and other warnings can be addressed later.
