The Defense Minister urgently ordered cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the First Army Region to expedite assistance for southern border students and Muslim communities trapped by flooding at Ramkhamhaeng 24 after victims requested “only food without pork.” Fresh food and survival kits are being sent to the area.
On 28 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant General Adul Boonthermcharoen, Defense Minister, urgently instructed all responsible agencies to assist Ramkhamhaeng University students from three southern border provinces trapped by floodwaters in the Huamark area. Following these students’ plea for help conveyed to the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Front, Lieutenant General Adul directed coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the First Army Region to mobilize food, ingredients, and survival kits into the area and to extend aid to Muslim communities in Soi Ramkhamhaeng 24 also affected by the floods.
Coordination teams reported that some of these students remain trapped inside dormitories and cannot travel out to buy food and essential items. Consequently, they are beginning to face shortages of food and cooking ingredients, especially fresh food, rice, and other meal components, as the community still has places and equipment to cook their own meals.
One issue raised by victims during discussions is that in this crisis, aid does not need to be restricted solely to food certified halal. If halal food is unavailable, victims request only that the food contain no pork, so it can be quickly prepared and served to those affected.
Initially, after coordination with the Ministry of Interior’s Deputy Minister’s team, orders were issued to deliver halal food to the area. Contact numbers of community leaders and coordinators were provided to facilitate direct communication and delivery to victims. Meanwhile, the First Army Region was assigned the urgent task of delivering survival kits to assist the students and affected residents.
At the same time, the chairman of the Thamnaruk community reported hardships faced by residents in the Rama 9–Suan Luang area and nearby communities. While main roads remain passable, many internal roads and alleys are flooded, preventing some residents from going out to buy food and making access difficult for ordinary vehicles. The community has established a central kitchen with equipment and manpower capable of producing thousands of meals but lacks ingredients, rice, dry food, drinking water, packaging, and transport vehicles to deliver supplies into the area.
This relief effort is a joint operation involving the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, the Royal Thai Army through the First Army Region, the Internal Security Operations Command, and community networks. The Halal Social and Business Development Institute supports connecting volunteer networks to ensure aid reaches all affected groups quickly and without duplication.
The urgent mission is to deliver fresh food, cooking ingredients, and survival kits to flood victims, especially students trapped in dormitories and households cut off by blocked routes. Support is also provided to the community’s central kitchen to continuously prepare and distribute meals to those affected.
