The Interior Ministry Secretary has directed the Department of Local Administration, Department of Community Development, and Department of Public Works to mobilize mobile toilets, food trucks, and food operators, appointing two Ministry of Interior inspectors as Project Managers to assist Bangkok in easing the impact on residents.
On 28 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Assisit Sampantharat, Interior Ministry Secretary, disclosed details of a meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to discuss aid for Bangkok residents affected by the current flooding.
Mr. Assisit said the Interior Ministry received reports from the Bangkok Governor that over 80,000 residents are currently trapped by floodwaters, unable to leave their homes, creating a demand for 240,000 boxed meals daily along with basic utilities support.
He ordered relevant agencies to urgently support Bangkok’s relief efforts by addressing six key issues to alleviate public hardship in the short term.
1. The Metropolitan Electricity Authority has restored power to almost all homes and residential flats, except for ground floors still flooded where electricity supply remains suspended for safety.
2. The Department of Local Administration is coordinating with local government organizations to deploy mobile toilets to communities still affected by flooding.
3. The Department of Community Development and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation are mobilizing food operators and 4 to 5 food trucks per location to prepare meals for Bangkok, aiming for at least 10,000 boxed meals per distribution point.
4. The Department of Local Administration, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and Department of Public Works and Town Planning are assembling boats from all sectors. The Metropolitan Police Command is planning food delivery routes to cover every building without gaps or duplication, ensuring all residents receive three meals daily during 3–5 days of flooding and continuing for at least seven days after water recedes, until normal household life resumes.
5. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is expediting aid to residents according to established regulations and criteria.
6. Assigned Acting Sub-Lieutenant Trakul Thotham and Ms. Supattra Klaithim, Ministry of Interior inspectors, as Project Managers for Khlong Chan, Rom Klao, and Lat Krabang areas to direct and integrate all Interior Ministry support for Bangkok’s mission, with Disaster Prevention and Mitigation staff working alongside police, military, and various volunteers.
