He stressed that the current problem is not rainfall but water management, emphasizing the absence of a clear central coordination center.
On 29 Sep 2026 GMT+7 at the Democrat Party headquarters, Pongsakorn Khwanmuang, the party’s spokesperson, revealed after visiting flood victims alongside party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva over the past three days in Khlong Chan and Rom Klao districts that the situation remains severe and challenging. A major obstacle is the lack of any state agency managing the crisis due to the absence of a clear central coordination center. Therefore, the government must quickly decide and clearly communicate to the people whether flood victims should evacuate or remain in their homes. Daily visits showed many residents remain trapped inside their houses, often believing the water will soon recede, but in reality, the problem is not solely caused by rainfall.
"Today, the government must provide the facts to the public about how to handle this situation. Although rainfall has greatly decreased, the volume and level of water continue to rise. For example, on Ramkhamhaeng Road, water is pumped out daily, yet water levels rise every day because pumped water circulates back to the same place. Therefore, the government must honestly communicate and clearly assess the situation so residents can make informed decisions amid the prolonged flooding crisis, which in some areas is starting to become stagnant and polluted," the Democrat Party spokesperson said.
