The government clarified false news circulating on social media, confirming that the Khlong Rorok Reservoir remains stable and safe. The issue involves only erosion on the side of the emergency spillway.
On 29 September 2026, Mr. Ekaphop Pienpiset, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, explained that claims circulating on social media stating the "Khlong Rorok Reservoir has broken" are completely untrue. He firmly confirmed that the reservoir remains structurally sound and safe in every aspect.
The spokesperson detailed that the problem was erosion on the right side of the emergency spillway, which does not affect the structure or stability of the reservoir itself. The Royal Irrigation Department has dispatched personnel to repair the eroded area, and this work has been completed. Additionally, officials have been assigned to continuously monitor and inspect the reservoir's condition at all times.
"The government confirms that the Khlong Rorok Reservoir has not broken. The erosion occurred only on the side of the emergency spillway, which the Royal Irrigation Department has already repaired. This does not affect the reservoir's structural integrity. Therefore, we urge the public not to panic and to follow information from government agencies or trusted sources only to prevent confusion caused by inaccurate reports," emphasized Mr. Ekaphop.
