Deputy Interior Minister Worasit has mobilized high-lift trucks, mobile toilets, and water pumps from local administrative organizations nationwide to accelerate drainage of floodwaters in Bangkok, distributing relief centers into communities and emphasizing immediate recovery and aid once the water recedes.
On 29 September 2026 at Government House, Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasert revealed after visiting flood-affected areas in Bangkok that he has issued the highest priority order for all relevant agencies to urgently accelerate drainage of stagnant and pending floodwaters at every location, especially critical areas like Romklao Housing and Lat Krabang districts, where flooding continues to impact residents' daily lives.
"I have instructed a close, point-by-point assessment of the situation and constraints. If any area cannot drain water quickly enough, immediate coordination to send additional water pumps and machinery must be undertaken to maximize drainage efficiency and resolve the situation as swiftly as possible," he said.
Deputy Minister Worasit also ordered the Department of Local Administration to coordinate with local administrative organizations nationwide to rapidly survey available resources and mobilize tools to support efforts in Bangkok. He emphasized allocating resources according to each area's level of hardship, including high-lift trucks for transporting residents and goods in flooded zones, mobile toilets to maintain hygiene and public utilities, large water pumps, and additional rescue trucks, with these resources deployed to operational points as quickly as possible.
"I emphasize that assistance to the public must not be concentrated in just one location but spread out with relief centers and coordination points reaching down to the community level and directly affected areas. This is to ensure the distribution of food, clean drinking water, and essential supplies reaches residents conveniently and comprehensively. Moreover, these centers will serve as reporting points to collect field needs and connect information with operational teams 24/7 to promptly dispatch high-lift trucks, aid teams, or necessary equipment to residents in affected areas," Worasit said.
He added that for recovery plans, related agencies have been tasked to begin damage assessments concurrently with urgent drainage efforts. He ordered that once water levels subside, staff should be rapidly mobilized to clean and remove garbage and waste, disinfect and restore transportation routes and public areas to normal use as soon as possible. At the same time, teams will conduct damage surveys of homes and property to gather data for official aid processes without overlooking any cases, while also using field information to develop long-term prevention measures.
"I would like to encourage all dedicated officials to work wholeheartedly, communicate closely, and reach out to the people. The Ministry of Interior is ready to integrate cooperation with all agencies and local administrative organizations nationwide to continue operations until the situation fully normalizes, to relieve hardship and restore well-being to the people with full commitment."
