On 29 September 2026, Parit Watcharasindhu, a party-list MP of the People's Party and chairman of the opposition whip, spoke about the party's approach during the flood situation. This week, with the scheduled parliamentary sessions set for three days from Wednesday, 30 September to Friday, 2 October, and while many areas still face flooding or remain under close watch, People's Party MPs will perform their parliamentary duties while simultaneously dividing teams to coordinate assistance and deliver relief supplies directly to affected communities across the country.
Parit added that beyond the routine legislative agenda, People's Party MPs intend to use parliamentary mechanisms to help propose solutions to the government through two key channels:
1. Presenting an urgent motion tomorrow (Wednesday, 30 September) to reflect problems gathered by party leaders, MPs, and teams from field operations, along with proposing systematic solutions to the government.
2. Raising a parliamentary question on Thursday (1 October) to seek clarity on the efficiency of warning systems, emergency commands, and inter-agency coordination, as well as post-flood recovery plans. This includes managing submerged vehicles, handling the massive amount of flood waste, and critically, revising relief payment procedures to be faster, more convenient, and comprehensive for the greatest number of affected citizens.
