Bangkok conducts a Big Cleaning on Phetchaburi Road after fully reopening traffic, urgently relocating vehicles blocking the road to restore the area before schools and workplaces reopen tomorrow. It has been revealed that over 1,000 vehicles were damaged. Vehicle owners are advised to contact their local police stations if they cannot find their cars nearby.
On 29 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Pornprom Wikitset, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, visited the Big Cleaning operation on Phetchaburi Road, starting at Suan Sararnrom. Staff from the Cleaning and Public Parks Department of Huai Khwang District Office, along with high-pressure water trucks, water tankers, and cleaning equipment, mobilized to sweep away mud, silt, and debris on the road surface to restore safe and normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.
The Deputy Governor then visited Wat Mai Chong Lom School to assess damages after water from Khlong Saen Saeb overflowed its embankments, flooding the school building. The inspection found that the first floor was heavily flooded, damaging classrooms, teaching equipment, desks, chairs, textbooks, and important documents. Staff and teachers had to promptly remove the water-damaged items to the outside for drying and storage.
He then proceeded to the Tha Sai 1 Community in Thung Song Hong Subdistrict, Lak Si District, another community severely affected by flooding, to observe waste management efforts after water levels receded and residents resumed normal life.
The Deputy Governor stated that communities with receding floodwaters, such as the Keha Sai Pramuk Community—a major collection point for large waste from over 1,400 households and nearby areas—have accumulated bulky waste estimated visually at no less than 100 cubic meters. Bangkok has deployed staff and waste collection vehicles to clear the area as quickly as possible.
: Bangkok has also implemented a "paired district" model, by bringing in districts less affected by flooding, such as Sathorn and Din Daeng, to support Lak Si District with personnel and vehicles, ensuring that flood-affected districts do not bear the burden alone. The situation is assessed daily, and additional support teams can be dispatched promptly from central authorities if needed.
Regarding traffic management and obstructions, Bangkok assigned municipal officers from all 50 districts to survey and thoroughly check vehicles parked obstructively. Over 1,000 vehicles were found citywide. Bangkok collaborated with police officers, deploying 10 tow trucks and removal vehicles to relocate vehicles from traffic-congested areas, especially on main routes like Phetchaburi Road, where over 100 obstructing vehicles have been moved to safe locations such as nearby parks or road edges.
For vehicles not yet relocated, Bangkok urges owners to promptly move their cars to prepare for the reopening of schools and the resumption of regular work commutes.
