The Cabinet has approved extending the payment period for the Quality Longan Orchard Development Project until 31 December 2026, allowing 96 eligible households who have not yet received assistance, totaling 315,975 baht, to obtain full payment.
On 29 September 2026, Second Lieutenant Phatdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that the Cabinet resolved to extend the duration and payment deadline of the Quality Longan Orchard Development Project—focused on pruning and fruit cluster management to restore longan orchards and increase income—from the original end date of 31 March 2026 to 31 December 2026. This extension aims to fully disburse aid to eligible farmers who have not yet received payments.
The project targets longan farmers in eight northern provinces: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, and Tak. It provides financial support of 1,000 baht per rai, up to 10 rai per household, to cover pruning and fruit cluster management costs, thereby restoring longan orchards, increasing the proportion of quality production, and raising farmers’ incomes.
Farmers participating in the project must carry out orchard improvements according to specified criteria and undergo inspections before receiving aid. The program promotes quality longan production, reduces risks from market oversupply and price drops, and encourages farmers to maintain continuous orchard care for quality fruit production.
So far, 81,524 households covering approximately 452,057 rai have registered for the project. Payments have been made to 79,882 households totaling 425.46 million baht. However, 96 households, amounting to 315,975 baht, have not received transfers due to payment issues. This extension enables relevant agencies to complete payments to these remaining farmers.
For participating farmers, this support not only reduces orchard maintenance costs but also promotes proper pruning and fruit cluster management to enhance product quality, reduce harvest-time production clustering, and increase opportunities to generate income from quality longans.
This extension ensures that all eligible farmers receive full aid, enabling them to continue restoring quality longan orchards, reduce risks related to production and pricing, and sustain income generation through 31 December 2026.
