Thanakorn visited Hat Yai to open a seminar titled "Opening Thai Tourism Doors with Artificial Intelligence Technology," revealing the Prime Minister’s focus on developing Thai people's capacity to keep pace with AI to prepare the Thai workforce for the new era.
On 29 September 2026, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, party-list MP from the Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, serving as advisor to the Parliamentary Tourism Commission, chaired the opening of the seminar "Opening Thai Tourism Doors with Artificial Intelligence Technology (Learn, Create Media, Promote Tourism)" at Buri Sriphu Hotel, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. Mr. Sastra Sripan from the Office of the Prime Minister Secretariat welcomed the event.
Thanakorn stated that today, artificial intelligence (AI) technology plays a significant role in daily life and tourism. It can be used for information search, travel planning, and creative media promotion of tourist attractions in diverse ways. This presents a key opportunity to encourage citizens and youth to creatively use technology to share stories and local identities.
He added that today's seminar was organized to enhance knowledge, understanding, and skills in applying AI to promote tourism, while raising awareness about proper, safe, ethical, and responsible technology use. These skills can be appropriately applied in learning, careers, and promoting tourism in local areas.
"Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul clearly stated that the government will focus on developing Thai people's capacity to keep pace with rapidly changing AI technology, enabling access to technology to improve work efficiency and competitiveness. This will increase income opportunities and the country's future, reduce inequality, and prepare the Thai workforce to face the new world," Thanakorn said.
Reporters noted that Thanakorn surveyed tourism on Hat Yai Walking Street in front of Lee Garden, where a considerable number of Malaysian tourists were present, and the atmosphere was quite good.
