'Teng' criticized the Prime Minister, urging him to stop talking about reviewing lessons from the floods and instead take concrete action, pointing out that the warning system and compensation payments remain delayed.
On 30 September 2026 at the Parliament, during a House of Representatives meeting chaired by Ms. Mallika Chirapanwanich, Deputy Speaker, urgent verbal motions were considered to find ways to manage water and implement recovery measures for the flood crisis, totaling eight motions. Government MPs, including Mr. Padit Sangkachai, MP for Ayutthaya from the Bhumjaithai Party, emphasized the need for the government to adopt a proactive approach, issue clear and rapid warnings, and empower local authorities with both authority and budget to make timely decisions on pumping and draining water according to the situation.
Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the Prachachon Party, criticized Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, saying not to rush to draw lessons since the crisis is ongoing and heavy rain may return next week. He noted the Prime Minister has faced floods multiple times but has never truly taken action. He highlighted four key problems: 1. delayed and confusing warnings; 2. lack of centralized management for crisis response in provinces and insufficient decentralization to communities in Bangkok; 3. slow compensation payments caused by local authorities' concerns over the Audit Office, which the Prime Minister should address by issuing authoritative directives to support local governments; and 4. the lack of a clear overall plan from the government to restore public confidence.
Meanwhile, Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, party-list MP of the Democrat Party, spoke about flood problems in Bangkok based on field visits. He stated that warnings to the public came too late, there was insufficient water drainage in canals relative to weather conditions, and the giant drainage tunnels operated at only 60 percent capacity. He also pointed out a complete lack of on-site management and coordination in the Klong Chan flats and Rom Klao Housing areas, forcing reliance on volunteers. He proposed establishing an independent committee to review lessons learned and to undertake major reforms of disaster laws to solve the problems sustainably.
