Yotchanan Wongwasi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, chaired the meeting of the Flood and Drought Relief Committee in the northern region. At the Government House, together with the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, governors of 17 northern provinces, representatives from the National Water Resources Office, the Royal Irrigation Department, and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), to monitor urgent project planning to prevent and resolve flood and drought problems in the northern region.
Before the meeting, Yotchanan said he had held discussions with the DDPM morning, noon, and evening to closely monitor water conditions simultaneously. He praised everyone for their united effort in this matter. Today’s discussion would focus on budgeting to be presented to the Cabinet. He emphasized the government must provide immediate assistance; if some issues are not addressed in today’s meeting, they should be prepared for the next session.
