The army advances the royal kitchen initiative to produce cooked meals to assist flood-affected citizens.
On 30 September 2026, Major General Winthai Suwaree, army spokesperson, reported on the military’s flood relief efforts both in Bangkok and regional areas. Beyond evacuating vulnerable groups using military equipment such as large trucks, boats, and various vehicles to access flooded zones, the army places great importance on citizens still trapped in their homes who cannot leave or choose to remain, ensuring they receive food, drinking water, and essential supplies for daily living.
The army, together with the Royal Volunteer Spirit Center (Sor Yor), the armed forces, and local agencies, has put into practice the royal benevolence and resolve to care for those in distress. They have integrated personnel, military units, volunteers, and various sectors to set up royal kitchens in flood-affected areas to prepare freshly cooked meals distributed three times daily. They prioritize direct delivery to residents, especially in locations with deep flooding or difficult access. This operation began with the dinner service on 26 September 2026.
Currently, a total of 21 royal kitchens have been established, covering Bangkok districts including Lat Krabang, Suan Luang, Don Mueang, Bang Kapi, Khlong Sam Wa, Prawet, and Saphan Sung, as well as provinces such as Nakhon Nayok, Sa Kaeo, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Pathum Thani. These kitchens have produced and delivered over 90,000 freshly cooked meal boxes to the public.
The army spokesperson added that the royal kitchens will continue providing ongoing assistance by preparing all three daily meals. They are monitoring the situation and assessing needs in each area to ensure aid is comprehensive and targeted. The army will maintain integration of personnel and available equipment to support relief operations until the flood situation stabilizes and returns to normal.
