Suchart visited Rayong and convened a meeting with officials responsible for eight eastern provinces to monitor flooding, emphasizing care for flood victims, accelerating water drainage, and aiding home restoration so residents can resume normal life as quickly as possible.
On 30 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and Chairman of the Eastern Flood and Drought Management Committee overseeing eight eastern provinces, visited Rayong province to monitor flood conditions and called a meeting of relevant agencies at the Rayong Provincial Hall. The meeting included Mr. Traiphop Wongtrairat, Governor of Rayong, Mr. Piya Pitutecha, President of Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization, and other relevant agencies to promptly review the situation and plan systematic assistance for the public.
Mr. Suchart reported that, according to the latest updates, Rayong has 18 flood-affected areas across four districts: Mueang Rayong, Klaeng, Ban Khai, and Khao Chamao. Water levels in some areas range from approximately 30 to 80 centimeters. Areas still needing close monitoring and urgent aid include Choeng Noen, Tha Pradu, Noen Phra, Thap Ma, Ban Laeng, Taphong, Ban Na, Thung Kwai Kin, Thang Kwian, and Wang Wa. Meanwhile, the situation is easing in several places, and no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
Currently, 54 shelters have been set up across the four districts, housing over 2,800 evacuees, with Klaeng district hosting more than 2,000 people and Mueang Rayong nearly 300. Authorities and equipment have been mobilized to accelerate water drainage and provide assistance to affected residents.
“The government prioritizes caring for those affected by flooding. This visit aims to monitor water levels, drainage efforts, and residents’ well-being. We will coordinate all agencies to work as a unified team to ensure rapid and comprehensive assistance reaches the public,” said Mr. Suchart. Mr. Suchart said.
After the meeting, Mr. Suchart and his team visited flood victims to deliver survival kits and essential items and checked on residents at shelters. They visited the shelter at Thap Ma Subdistrict Municipality in Mueang Rayong District, which accommodates 288 people, to listen directly to their problems and needs, urging officials to provide thorough care.
Mr. Suchart stated that today he brought 600 food sets to distribute to affected residents and deployed three food service vehicles—two in Mueang Rayong District and one in Klaeng District—to prepare and distribute meals, ensuring sufficient food during the flood situation.
Additionally, Mr. Suchart mentioned recovery and relief measures, noting that the Prime Minister has approved a central budget of about 4 billion baht to assist and compensate flood victims nationwide, with aid based on criteria and damage data submitted by local agencies.
“Assistance does not end with the floodwaters receding. Once water levels drop, agencies under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will be tasked with restoring affected homes by cleaning, clearing, and rehabilitating areas so residents can return and resume normal life as soon as possible,” Mr. Suchart added. Mr. Suchart said.
Mr. Suchart further said that monitoring continues, especially in areas with lingering floodwaters. Efforts to drain water at key points include installing long-distance pumps and water propellers to speed drainage. When the situation stabilizes, full-scale restoration will proceed to help residents return to normal life promptly.
