The Prime Minister held a meeting to monitor the flood situation, expressed pleasure at officials assuming new positions, said there is no time for trial periods, urged all provinces to maintain the highest level of readiness at all times, and ordered debris clearance after floodwaters recede.
At 08:10 on 1 Oct 2026 GMT+7 at the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired a meeting of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center (NDPMCC) to monitor the flood situation and relief efforts. Attendees included Defense Minister Gen. Adul Boonthamcharoen, Deputy Interior Ministers Jeset Thaiseth and Worasit Siangprasit, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Atsit Sampantharat, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, and military commanders. The Prime Minister opened the meeting by congratulating all on their new appointments and urged them to carry out their duties smoothly for the benefit of the country and its people. He noted there is no time for trial periods as they face major challenges immediately. He pledged mutual support and, from his visits to several areas, confirmed that state officials have reached all locations. He thanked officials, civil servants, military, police, citizens, civil society organizations, private sector volunteers, and all volunteers for their dedicated, strong, and selfless efforts to safeguard citizens' quality of life to the fullest extent.
The Prime Minister added that while conditions have improved in many areas, vigilance remains necessary in others. Despite the pause in rainfall, water management issues persist, including water releases, flash floods, and surges, which may still occur. Therefore, every province must maintain the highest level of preparedness at all times. He emphasized that all agencies must closely integrate their work, prioritizing the safety of lives and property. Furthermore, as floodwaters begin to recede, particular attention must be given to managing accumulated solid waste efficiently to prevent unclean conditions, odors, and health problems.
