Je Seth, Deputy Minister of Interior, confirms that the northern water mass will definitely cause Chao Phraya riverside water levels to rise by 100%. Attention is focused on Bangkok's water situation, with accelerated installation of water pumps and pushers in Lat Krabang.
On 1 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Je Seth Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior, spoke about handling the northern water mass, which has raised public concern about flooding in Bangkok again. He said the Royal Irrigation Department reported that water levels in the Chao Phraya basin and the receiving areas diverting water from Bangkok to the Gulf of Thailand will certainly rise. However, levels will be managed to rise gradually. Coordination with the National Water Resources Office will ensure data is sent to the Department of Disaster Prevention promptly to alert the public quickly.
"From reviewing the situation, areas affected by river flooding will see water levels rise 100% for sure, but in places affected by flash floods or rainfall, the situation is expected to improve within 1-2 days," Je Seth said.
Regarding the water situation in eastern Bangkok districts like Sai Mai, Lat Krabang, and Bang Kapi, Je Seth said he received information from Worasit Liangprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, that water pumps and pushers will be installed.
