The parliament heated up as "Rome" was expelled from the meeting room by "Mallika" for refusing to retract comments implicating the husband of MP Suchada Sang Thanthap from Chaiyaphum in connection with a scammer gang.
On 1 Oct 2026 GMT+7, during a House of Representatives session, Rangsima Rome, a party-list MP from the People’s Party, questioned Chaiyachon Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DES), about details and progress regarding a 40-million-baht bribe allegedly offered to a minister, possibly linked to scammer bribes.
Chaiyachon explained that since the government took office, reports of scammers have decreased by 50% from the first to the second Anutin administration. They have expanded investigations including arrests involving People’s Party MPs linked to gambling websites and nominees in Phuket, forex cases, and money laundering. The government is tackling all aspects. He urged Rangsima Rome to provide information to the government sincerely instead of tarnishing the administration, whether concerning party members or outsiders, promising full efforts to act.
Rangsima Rome pressed on, asking which People’s Party MP from Samut Prakan was involved, and told Chaiyachon that for fairness, he should investigate the husband of MP Suchada Sang Thanthap from Bhumjaithai in Chaiyaphum, who might be connected to an international scammer gang.
“We support cracking down on gray capital but the law should be applied comprehensively. It’s not fair to single out the orange party. This standard should also apply to your Chaiyaphum MP. Have you acted on that? Or is it because one side is blue and the other orange, and those who are blue get away? Are we going to live like this?” said Rangsima Rome.
Chaiyachon clarified he misread and that the person was not an MP but a local candidate from the Progressive Movement. Meanwhile, MP Suchada Sang Thanthap, Chaiyaphum District 4, Bhumjaithai Party, protested that she is the only female MP from Chaiyaphum and refused to accept the claim. She demanded Rome retract his words if he was a man, stating he directly referred to her and should have evidence rather than making baseless allegations that harm her reputation.
Mallika Jiraphanvanich, presiding over the session, asked Rangsima Rome to retract his statement. Rome said if innocence is confirmed, explanation should be provided. Suchada said damage has already been done and she is not obliged to explain as there is no reason she is at fault. She added that as an MP, Rome should consider himself before accusing others without proof.
Rangsima Rome insisted that evidence will come and that it is not about being 'manly.' Suchada retorted to present the evidence first, then speak, since she has already been harmed.
Mallika ruled that Rangsima Rome must retract his statement first, but he refused. Mallika responded that if he would not withdraw, he must leave the room. Rome accepted the ruling. Mallika then instructed officials and parliamentary police to bar him from re-entering the meeting room for the day.
