Interior Ministry Orders Relocation of Four Phaya Naga Water Pumps from Khlong Chan to Rom Klao to Accelerate Drainage

Deputy Interior Minister Warasit Liangprasert ordered the relocation of four Phaya Naga water pumps from Khlong Chan to Rom Klao to accelerate continuous water drainage following the planned easing of the flood situation at Khlong Chan flats.

On 2 October 2026, Deputy Interior Minister Warasit Liangprasert, also known as "Interior Ministry No. 4 Gopae," directed the transfer of four Phaya Naga water pumps, also called turbo pipe pumps, from the Khlong Chan housing community in Bang Kapi district to support urgent water drainage efforts at the Rom Klao housing community in Lat Krabang district. This followed the installation of large pumps at Khlong Chan flats that significantly lowered water levels as planned. The drainage approach was adjusted to use smaller pumps to maintain water levels in the original area, allowing resources to be redirected to assist residents still affected elsewhere.

Following the rapid installation of Phaya Naga pumps at the Khlong Chan housing community, one of the flood-affected areas in Bangkok, operations showed a clear reduction in water levels at Khlong Chan flats, reflecting progress according to the established plan. Officials adapted drainage methods to the current situation by deploying smaller pumps to continue managing and draining remaining water.

Based on the successful drainage results, Deputy Minister Warasit ordered the prompt relocation of four Phaya Naga pumps from Khlong Chan housing to Rom Klao housing in Lat Krabang district. This aims to enhance drainage efficiency and quickly alleviate residents' hardships there, hoping to achieve tangible outcomes similar to the mission at Khlong Chan flats.

"As the situation in Khlong Chan begins to ease, we must not stop there but swiftly move equipment and personnel to assist other still-affected areas immediately," is the operational principle emphasizing efficient resource management to ensure help reaches the public comprehensively and continuously.

Regarding the urgent drainage mission at Rom Klao housing, it is expected that supporting the four Phaya Naga pumps will increase drainage capacity and steadily lower water levels. The initial goal is to see clear progress within 1–2 days. However, results will depend on local conditions, inflow volume, main waterway levels, and any additional rainfall.

Deputy Minister Warasit stressed the importance of collaboration among officials and relevant agencies, urging public confidence in all parties’ efforts. He pledged close monitoring of water situations in each area, coordinating work and accelerating problem resolution until conditions improve and residents can resume normal life.

"I fully understand that the citizens facing flood problems want the situation to return to normal as soon as possible. We will do everything possible to speed up drainage and ease their hardships, even though some steps may take time due to technical limitations and uncontrollable natural factors, especially main waterway levels and additional rainfall. But we will not stop working and will care for residents in all areas with full commitment, leaving no one behind."
