Flood Relief Begins Today Central Region Warned of Heavy Rainfall from 11–14 Oct

The government revealed that the central region should prepare for heavy rainfall from 11 to 14 October. Meanwhile, areas including Min Buri, Nong Chok, Prawet, Saphan Sung, and Sai Mai require continued monitoring. It is expected that Sai Mai and O Ngoen will drain floodwaters within two days. The Prime Minister has ordered the deployment of forces to assist residents and emphasized that applications for flood relief begin today.

At 11:00 a.m. on 2 October 2026, at Government House, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatthana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced from the Joint Information Center for Flood Situation (JICC) that the Prime Minister ordered provinces still affected by flooding to maintain staff and necessary resources to continuously assist residents in all aspects. Relevant agencies were instructed to manage and drain water effectively. For provinces or areas where the situation is improving, comprehensive damage assessments must be accelerated along with restoration of the environment, public utilities, and infrastructure affected by flooding.

Ms. Lalida stated that the Meteorological Department explained that from 5 to 7 October, rainfall will increase, starting from the northeast region moving towards the west of the country. Another significant period is from 11 to 14 October when heavy or persistent rain will occur in the central region, starting from Nakhon Sawan province downward, with rainfall amounts around 100 millimeters, then shifting towards the south.

Ms. Lalida said that regarding overall water management, currently the Chao Phraya Dam has reduced inflow from the Ping and Nan Rivers, with water levels under control. Overall inflow is decreasing, while outflow at the dam is about 2,500 cubic meters per second. Caution is advised in Chainat, Sing Buri, and Ang Thong provinces, where the situation remains stable. Ayutthaya province is currently affected in Sena, Phak Hai, and Bang Ban districts. In Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi provinces, the situation is steady but riverbank areas remain affected.

Ms. Lalida noted that in Bangkok, the water embankments remain unaffected, with water levels at the lowest point about 90 centimeters. Communities outside the embankments have reinforced sandbags at vulnerable spots and built wooden bridges for easier movement. Critical areas like Khlong Chan are now dry, and in Rom Klao Housing Community, water levels dropped by 30 centimeters on 1 October. Some spots remain deep while others have receded enough to allow some movement.

Ms. Lalida listed routes with high floodwaters to be avoided: 1. Phahonyothin Road at the Bangkok-Phahonyothin 54/1 junction; 2. Suwinthawong Road at the Ramkhamhaeng-Klong Tonod intersection; 3. Krungthep Kreetha Road, sections 9–25 and 41–55; 4. Entire Luang Paeng Road; 5. Entire Chalong Krung Road; 6. Chaokhun Thahan Road from Rom Klao junction to Chaokhun Thahan intersection. The Lat Krabang community remains critical with lowered water levels but ongoing traffic issues. The BMA is pumping and draining water at full capacity.

Ms. Lalida said that areas in Min Buri, Nong Chok, Prawet, Saphan Sung, and Sai Mai districts require close monitoring of water levels due to a tendency for increases related to the water level in Prawet Buri Rom Canal. Floodwaters still remain in Sai Mai and O Ngoen communities, and despite some reduction, urgent pumping or water pushing is needed. It is expected to take about two days to fully drain.

Ms. Lalida added that the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) opened flood relief applications at 8:00 a.m. on 2 October via the official app. Required documents include the insured person’s or applicant’s ID card, photos of damage, proof of property ownership, and a PromptPay account linked to the ID card. For residents in Bangkok, an additional registration on the BMA website is required, meaning two registrations: one via the Thang Rat app and one via the BMA website. The government continues to closely monitor the situation and will expedite efforts to help citizens return to normal life as soon as possible.
